Open Mic Theater “The Dialogue edition” was held on Friday, 15 August at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island. The ‘Make It Happen’ production featuring; Tina Mba, Ufuoma McDermott, Najite Dede, Lala Akindoju, Seun Ajayi, Toju and Zara Ejoh, Deyemi Okanlawon, Abiodun Kassim, Lily Byoma and a host of many other talented actors were there to thrill the audiences at the event.
The show was opened with music from the talented duo of Femi Leye and Naomi Mark, followed by a radiating applause, another performance by other artistes to thrill the guests came by and everyone was thrilled. The lights were focused on the stage leaving the whole auditorium dark only for the spot light that hit the stage, the people were in suspense, waiting for the performance that was about to awake their delightful senses. Only the sight of a “CONGA” drum was in the middle of the stage, the setting was a beautifully placed traditional background for a nice performance. The MC introduced the next person to perform, just then the crowd went into uproar, he was not a performer afterall, but he was there to impact the best he could into the audiences at the auditorium, he was an author.
Chude Jideonwo’s performance started with a reading of some excerpts from the last chapter of his new book called “Are We the Turning Point Generation”. With the audience listening in wide attention at the speaker thrilling their ears, you could say the Author had sparked a great interest in the mind of his listeners as he brought out different reasons as to how the economy of our great Nation would move forward if the younger generation were actively involved in the nation’s decision making process.
Camera flashes could be seen all around the auditorium as some of the audiences were listening in rapt attention to what the Author was reading. Before we could ask for more, he had stopped, leaving us with a rhetorical question, he asked, “Are We the Turning Point Generation?” Rounds of applause accompanied by standing ovations filtered the hall as he left the stage.
